The prevalent logo of a dog holding up its masters slippers is everywhere at Old Friend Footwear. The dog pictured, a golden retriever named Bo, faithfully accompanied the founder to work every day where she curled up on, what else, her sheepskin rug nestled at his feet. Bo has since departed, but the friendship people have with their pets is not unlike the kinship they share with their slippers. In this spirit, the founder named the company "O ld Friend" and made Bo the icon of the brand. In. 2011, the company was centrally relocated to Chanhassen Minnesota under new ownership. We've carried on the tradition of making quality and workmanship our number one priority. We strive to maintain our goal of providing our customers with high quality, functional slippers that represent our namesake and are truly a delight to wear! Read more
I received my first pair of Juliet Old Friend slippers as a Christmas gift from my son. They were one of the best gifts I've ever received. They have memory foam and conform to my foot; they have a hard sole and I practically live in them indoors. I have orthotics in my regular shoes, but have no foot pain wearing Old Friend without orthotics. I am probably on my 4th pair as I usually order a new pair every year for myself when I find a good sale on Amazon. (Prior to ordering, I used to wear $10 slippers from the big box store, but no more). I usually order a size up because I wear them with socks. They are tight for a few wearings, but soon are broken in to be the most comfortable slipper ever. To be honest, I was shocked at the price that my son paid originally, but they are worth every penny.Beautiful well made product. Runs small for my feet. That's the only reason for my return.Way bigger than a 7I am editing my original review (below)over four years later. While not a perfect fit, they served me well for four years before the soles started cracking. I just purchased a different brand to replace them, but wouldn't rule them out in the future. The static issue seems to resolve itself with time.I was looking for slippers with arch support for my mother. These slippers popped up a few times while searching. She wears a 7.5-8M and I ordered the 8 because I have a pair of sheepskin slippers that fit when I purchased, but quickly became too large. When they arrived, I tried them on realized they felt too tight on my 7.5 foot in length and knew she would never wear them. Work, holidays, yada, yada, yada I never returned them and decided to keep them for myself. They did stretch a little in length, but the toe box is still short for an 8- or even a 7.5. The opening has stretched some as well and slips a little when I walk-I would not be able to size up or they would slip too much. I do appreciate the arch support in these slippers though. The fact that the insole is removable and may be gently cleaned is a nice feature. I supposed someone could remove the insole and use an orthotic insole as well. I find these more supportive than my Ugg slippers. However, I do find that I frequently get shocked on electrical appliances and metal when wearing these- which never happens with my other lambskin/fleece slippers or boots. If I had a shorter toes, and wider ankles, I would probably rate these much higher. They slip on and off easily with out hands.I LOVE these slippers! They were recommended by Sharon McMahon and I was not disappointed. They are made so well, very comfortable and I love them and wear them every day around my house. I don't think I'll ever buy another slipper. AND, I can replace the insoles every year and feel like I have a brand new pair.I love these slippers! They are a little larger than I expected but I like a little bigger, than too tight. This is the second pair I bought my wife the first pair sole cracked after about 3 1/2 years. She loves them and ware’s them every day.UPDATE: I've dropped another star from my review. I bought these slippers less than a month ago (21 days to be exact) and have only worn them inside, but the heels are already showing more wear than is acceptable or justifiable. Believe me, I'm not hard on them at all. These will probably be my last pair of Old Friend slippers.ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is my 2nd pair of Old Friend slippers, although this is a slightly different style than my first pair. First let me say they're very warm and comfortable and just what I want for the frigid winters we have, which is why I bought a second pair of Old Friend when I needed to replace my first pair. I assume their slippers run small because of the thick fleece — I usually wear a size 6.5 or 7 shoe and but wear an 8 in these slippers. After the fleece gets more compressed, they become a little looser, but socks help with that. I really liked my first pair, even though the heels wore through faster than I thought they should have considering the fact I only wear them inside for about 3 mos. out of the year. However, as much as I like the comfort and warmth of these slippers, there are some things I don't like about this 2nd pair: 1) The heel in this style is a little lower than the first style I had, and my heel slipped some in these when I walked, but turning the fleece cuff up helped with that. 2) The fleece in this pair is shedding more than my first pair. 3) This pair has an odor that my first pair didn't have — it smells like burnt hair. It's not really strong, but it became noticeable as I wore them, and the smell (and fleece) transfers to my socks and feet. I didn't send these back because I'd already worn them, they were on sale at half the price of the first style I'd had, and I figured for that price I could live with the things I didn't like.
