I tried to write this review twice after just finishing the book. I had to walk away and come back to it because I felt so RAW after the ending of this book. So, here I am and here is my review:**CONTAINS SPOILERS**My Knights With Kate is a fabulous book that centers around a beautiful love story with a huge conflict of age, maturity and stages of life. It is a fabulous book and well worth the read! You will experience a plethora of emotions, ranging from happiness to sadness. This story is about a 49 year old man who lost his love of his life, Eva, due to a tragic accident. He has been romantically alone ever since. Jack is an accomplished and successful businessman in the fashion world and that success has brought him extreme wealth. He has two children in their twenties. Jack stumbles upon an article of some sort about a Sugar Daddy website and allows his curiosity to win out. He explores the site and comes to a profile for a woman named Mia, also known as Kate. Jack is intrigued and captivated by the exposing pictures of her on the site and her eyes in the pictures. He sends an email to her profile and they agree to meet. Kate posted a profile on this site at the encouragement of her friend, Jackie, to gain money for college. She is a 22 year old woman and fourth year student at college studying fashion design. The meet under aliases and immediately Kate knows who Jack is, as he has been her idol and role model since she was ten. Kate has also been in love with him since she was a child and first met him with her mother. Both Jack and Kate are not comfortable with a sugar daddy arrangement so he offers a different proposal. These two embark on a business journey, a journey of self-discovery all while falling deeply in love.I started reading this book and after Jack and Kate's first encounter I had to put my Kindle down and pounce on my husband. My husband has a love/hate relationship with my Kindle but in that moment I was sure he was feeling the love ;) I resumed reading and was invested in this story. I immediately fell in love with Jack's character! Kate...I had issues with her. I could not understand why she would be involved with a Sugar Daddy service. It contradicted other aspects of her character. Jack stated how mature she was and had a good head on her shoulders. He also stated that she was not like other women in the sense of being interested in him for his success, connections and money. Well, Kate was intelligent and driven when it came to business. That she was. However, she was naive and immature in other aspects. Kate was also very passive. She allowed her friend, Jackie, (if Jackie is the definition of a friend, I don't want any)to STOMP all over her. Jackie berated her, threatened her, and made demands upon her and Kate did her bidding. Kate was also very passive when it came to talking about issues or her feelings with Jack. Also, the -effing word all the time! Kate came from wealth, although it was lost. It was hard to read about her actions sometimes because she acted as if these things were novelties to her and she behaved like a giddy teenager. Take the Neiman Marcus shopping spree with Jackie as an example. In those instances, Kate seemed like a lovesick teenager and it seemed about the money! I was cringing and embarrassed for her :( I also did not like her internal thoughts at times, especially when it came to Brandon. Kate was so in love with Jack that I did not understand her indecent thoughts about his son. Kate's character was TARNISHED for me after the Jackie situation, the menage and Brandon. But, mostly after the MENAGE. I did not view her the same after that. In the next book, I think Kate has to redeem herself a bit. I think she needs to prove her LOVE for Jack and fight like heck for him! No Brandon nonsense either! The menage. This is where I had a burning in my chest and I began voicing, "No, no, no! Don't do it!" I put the book down and walked away. I wrestled with not to read the remainder of the book or to proceed. I physically felt ill. I did not feel ill because it was a menage. I felt ill because it was allowing a poison, toxin into something pure...Jack and Kate's love. I could not wrap my head around the fact that Kate asked Jack to meet Jackie's demands, one of which was to sleep with him and INVADE their relationship. I also could not believe Jack agreed. Jack knew and stated that Jackie was trouble and not to be trusted. He did not want any part of her and he did not want her to keep harassing Kate. So, WHY?! He was powerful enough to get her blacklisted and not have to give her anything, so again, WHY?! That scene in the book made me sad and mad. There was nothing in it that I found "hot" or "steamy." I had bile rising in my throat. And when he was with Jackie only, while Kate lay next to them pretending to sleep, oh Jack...I lost respect for you there. My heart broke a bit...It was cruel and an ultimate hurt :( This contradicted Jack's character. The letter. Planning for the end and plotting to bring Brandon and Kate together. Jack's pain. Sweet Lord, it was too much! I cried and cried the ugly cry at that. The age difference, to me, was benign. Their love was profound. I grieved their loss. But, it was unnecessary. They could have had their HEA. Jack confided in his children about his relationship and love for Kate. Well, actually, he only told his daughter that he loved Kate because she asked. He did not tell his son, Brandon, who he was trying to force to be with Kate. That concerned me :( But, the point is, they were fine with it. The wanted their father to be happy and knew that Kate is what caused the positive change in him. His daughter told him to not let her go...Another book? I have to gripe for a moment. When you purchase a book on Amazon, sometimes it lists in the details whether the book is part of a series. Also, sometimes it will be listed in the title. Nothing was stated about this book. So, after the ending (a cliffhanger)I was mad until I read in the comments that there is one more book. I would have liked to know that. Personally, I hate CLIFFHANGERS and I am not alone in this. If I choose to read a series, I purchase the books all at once and read them back to back or I purchase them as they become available and wait until I have them all to read. I do this because I HATE CLIFFHANGERS and I do not want to wait a long period from one book to the next. The author may want to note that somewhere for the readers. With that said, I hope to see Kate show her LOVE for Jack. There is no doubting his LOVE for her. He sacrificed his wants and needs for hers...to let her fly. Just like the little saying about loving something and letting go and if it comes back to you...well, Jack loves Kate and let her go to spread her wings and fly. Now, she needs to fly home...Jack. I want her character to not be tarnished anymore though during the process. I want her to stay TRUE TO HERSELF AND HER LOVE FOR JACK, ONLY JACK! I want their love to be pure...
