I grew up wearing moccasins. They are my favorite kind of shoe, and if I could, I'd wear them all the time. Sometimes, though, they are not so practical. I work in retail, and am on my feet on a concrete floor 40-45 hours a week, so I need really comfortable, supportive shoes. I work in a hardware store, so I need durable shoes that offer decent protection with good traction and still allow for a suitable level of dexterity for someone who would rather be barefoot.I found Peace Mocs a few years ago, and always have a pair of Denise in Black and in Brown in my wardrobe. I am on my 8th pair of this style. I have simple taste, and usually go for function and comfort more than style, but these are good looking shoes, as well as comfortable, and totally functional for anything you might need to do, unless you're on one of those Real Housewives shows, or something, but I'm talking about normal people who have to do actual work. Add some Dr. Scholl's work soles, and you can stay on your feet all day.I very honestly wear these shoes everywhere that I don't wear a skirt. If I am walking somewhere I can't wear my bed slippers, I have my Peace Mocs on. If I can't wear my Peace Mocs, I probably don't want to go.Some advice on these shoes from someone who has worn 7 pair to pieces: If you order these in your normal shoe size and they are "a bit too tight" that's kinda how they are supposed to be at first, especially if you wear them with socks like I do. If you exchange them for the next size up, by the time they're comfy, they're too big to be comfortable, and you'll hate them. For maximum comfort and long wear, break them in. Breaking them in is a little bit of a process, but if you do it, you will love these shoes so much your pets will get jealous and you'll have to lock them in a closet so they don't pee in them. The shoes, of course. You should never lock your pets in the closet.Breaking in moccasins forms them to your feet, and that's one of the things that makes them so comfy. My break in process is simple, and requires little conscious effort. What I do is walk around my yard in the dewy grass, then I go to work and walk around in them for 8 hours. After a few days of that, they're perfect. Here is a more generic process: 1. Get a spray bottle and fill it with water. 2. Spray the outside of the shoes just enough to dampen the surface. 3. Bend and stretch the shoes in every direction you can think of, stretching and softening the leather. I do this by wearing them. 4. Wear your shoes until they dry. If you can't walk around continuously, walk around often most frequently when they're almost dry, to keep the leather from stiffening up.It's kinda like cooking pasta.Point is, these are great shoes. I will wear them until they stop making them, or I lose my feet. I hope neither one ever happens. My right foot is recovering from an operation and subsequent infections. I had a little swelling at the big toe and also a high instep. So getting shoes to fit is a problem. I normally wear athletic shoes but they are rubbing me wrong on the toe. I needed something soft. These go way beyond my expectations. I got two other pairs of their moccasins which I love. I just love these a little more! They are even more comfortable than any bedroom slippers I've owned. And they look great! Because they have black and brown on them, I can wear them with anything! Love, love, love! These shoes are slip-ons which is what I prefer in a shoe; and they're an okay shoe. However, these aren't a pair of shoes that I'll be purchasing again once they wear out. The reason for this decision is the toes of the shoes began 'looking' worn far too soon for my liking. There are no holes or anything; the toes just look like the suede of the leather is worn off.I use size 61/2 to 71/2 so to be safe I order size 7 shoes. I got these last week. They look nicer than in the display pic but they are so short! My toes are actually pushing on the front. Looking at them, they looked so small even before I tried them on. I am very disappointed. They are definitely NOT true to size.I already had a pair of these in black and knew how comfortable they were. I would have given 5 stars but the shoes looked like they might have been on display or something witha few small scuffs. However I like them so much I decided to keep them and they are very nice and cimfortable. They're a little too big, but very comfy. I usually wear 8.5 or 9, depending on the shoe. I ordered 8.5 and they're still too big, which is strange.I was very disappointed to get these shoed and have them be too small. Across the toe is flat (made for Fred Flintsone feet) There is no allowance for the big toe which is longer. They run 1/2 to 1 full size smallern than stated. But the product ran small and I would have needed a bigger size. Decided just to return, not thrilled enough that I had to have the bigger size.
