I love Ms. Jade's books, they just keep getting better and better. She has a talent for developing characters and plotlines quickly, making it easy to get involved with the story she's presenting. This book is no exception.The story begins with Violet stumbling into Jace as she tries to introduce herself to him. Violet is a staff writer who knows she deserves a promotion, while Jace is a Heisman Trophy award winning quarterback who's retired and successful as a veteran sports reporter.It turns out that Violet wants an invite to an exclusive gathering for the rich and famous being held on a private island and after all the mishaps and misunderstandings between them, culminating in a classic alpha male tirade, Jace feels like he should invite Violet to be his plus one. Violet wants to get to know a famous artist whose works she admires. Jace is on a quest to take down the unsavory trillionaire owner of the island.Thorpe, the villain Jace is after, owns a football team and one of his star players recently overdosed on drugs supplied to him by Thorpe. The young man who died was once an at risk youth Jace had mentored, so it's gamr on. While Violet networks to get closer to the famous artist, Jace goes undercover to figure out the best way to get to Thorpe and take him down once and for all.Their mutual passion for each other leads Jace and Violet to heat up the sheets as they pursue their goals, and when Violet returns home after their trip only to find that the house she's buying has suddenly become infested with wasps, Jace invites Violet to stay with him and his twelve year old daughter. They manage to restrain themselves when Kyra, Jace's daughter is home, but when Kyra sleeps over at her ftiend's house, it's game on.When an opportunity presents itself, Jace uses his under cover identity to secure an invite to yet another exclusive party, this time on Thorpe's turf. With Violet along as his plus one again, he goes into the lion's den and while Jace does his thing, Violet retires to the restroom to get away from the bad guys. She discovers Thorpe's young gal pal, whom she befriended while on the island, secretly smoking pot to help her put up with Thorpe.While standing outside the ladies room keeping watch for unsavory characters, Violet catches Thorpe and several of his buddies going into the men's room. She records a secret and totally incriminating conversation between Thorpe and his crew, which she turns over to Jace asap.Jace goes into action leaking the video to news outlets and law enforcement agencies world wide. Thorpe threatens legal action and when a bunch of lawyers accompanied by cops show up at work, Violet feels compelled to take the blame, since she recorded the video. Jace takes full responsibility for leaking the video and quits to take the heat off the news agency. Thorpe ends up behind bars for a very long time.Jace and Violet get their HEA, but not without working hard to get there.
